They had timestamps.
Access logs.
Financial records.
Computer evidence.
Security footage.
The emergency system configuration.
The changing statements.
The planted ledger.
Chad eventually accepted responsibility.
He admitted that he had fabricated the financial evidence.
He admitted disabling the children's emergency system.
And he admitted frightening Leo because the boy had seen him hiding the documents.
One sentence in his statement made Jackson stop.
I told myself I would never strike him, as though a child could understand the difference while a bat was over his head.
Jackson read it twice.
Claire watched him.
"Does that change anything?"
Jackson shook his head.
"Understanding consequences doesn't erase them."
Chad received a prison sentence, financial restitution and permanent restrictions from Bellandi financial systems.
His North Club option disappeared.
His position in the family business was gone.
