Chapter 11 - The Final Verdict
“You are a coward,” Sadi continued, her voice echoing in the quiet room. “You didn't leave me because you needed to find your own path. You left me because I worked double shifts to pay your bills, and looking at me reminded you that you were too weak to build a life on your own.”
Trevor stared up at her, completely paralyzed by the cold truth in her words.
“You kicked me in that store because you needed to feel big,” Sadi said, crouching down so she was eye-level with him. Her midnight-blue dress pooled beautifully on the floor. “But you are small, Trevor. You have always been small. And the only reason you are begging now is because you realized you picked a fight with a giant.”
Trevor squeezed his eyes shut, the humiliation burning hotter than any physical pain.
“What do you want me to do to him, mia regina?” Roman asked softly from behind her.
Sadi stood up slowly, smoothing the velvet of her gown. She looked at Trevor, who was curled into a pathetic ball on the floor, weeping openly.
“Nothing,” Sadi said.
Trevor’s eyes snapped open, a desperate glimmer of hope flashing across his tear-stained face. “Nothing?”
“Nothing,” Sadi confirmed, turning to Roman. “If you kill him, his pain ends. If you beat him, he gets to be a victim. I don't want him to be a victim, Roman. I want him to live exactly the life he built for himself.”
Roman smiled, a dark, incredibly proud expression. He walked over and kissed the back of Sadi’s hand. “As you wish.”
Roman looked down at Trevor.
“You are going to walk out of this hotel,” Roman commanded. “You are going to leave this city. If my men ever see your face within a hundred miles of Chicago, they will not kill you. They will simply break every bone in your hands and leave you on a sidewalk. Do you understand?”
Trevor nodded frantically, scrambling backward toward the door like a terrified animal.

“Get him out of my sight,” Roman ordered.
Arthur grabbed Trevor by the scruff of his neck and dragged him out of the room. The door slammed shut, leaving Roman and Sadi alone in the quiet viewing room.
