Chapter 16 - THE PACKAGE There was no one outside.
Only a small wooden box.
No return address.
Julian carried it inside.
Emily stood beside him.
Nora and Lilly watched from the staircase.
"Don't open it," Emily said.
Julian examined the box.
No wires.
No electronics.
He opened it.
Inside was an old photograph.
Emily picked it up.
Her face changed.
"What?"
Julian looked.
The photograph showed Emily's mother.
Standing beside another woman.
A woman Julian had never seen.
But Emily recognized her.
"My sister."
Julian stared.
"Your mother had another daughter?"
Emily nodded slowly.
"She was believed to have died."
The room became silent.
Inside the box was another object.
A key.
Engraved with the Eclipse symbol.
And a note.
THE FIRST ARCHIVE WAS NEVER DESTROYED.
Julian looked at Emily.
She whispered:
"Someone wants us to find it."
"Why?"
Emily turned the photograph over.
There was an address.
A small town in Maine.
Julian sighed.
"We just got our lives back."
