His daughter had been in Mrs. Whitmore’s class the year before.
Eric had paid Whitmore Academic Consulting $7,500.
“What did you get?”
“Scholarship coaching.”
“Was it worth that much?”
Eric laughed bitterly.
“No.”
Then he showed her an email.
Mrs. Whitmore had written:
Daniel’s program understands what selection committees want. Families who invest seriously usually see serious results.
Eric’s daughter later received an elite recommendation.
He had always suspected the two were connected.
But his daughter benefited.
So he stayed silent.
“I told myself everybody does this.”
Angela asked:
“Why are you talking now?”
Eric looked ashamed.
“Because Jordan didn’t have seventy-five hundred dollars.”
He understood the system only when a child without money threatened it.
Eric agreed to testify.
Another parent followed.
Then another.
