Victor stood outside.
Lily brought the drawing during a prison visit.
Victor stared at it.
“He put me outside.”
“Yes.”
Victor smiled sadly.
“At least I'm still in the picture.”
Lily watched him carefully.
“You're his father.”
Victor looked up.
“That doesn't automatically make me safe.”
For the first time, Lily smiled.
“No.”
Victor nodded.
