Chapter 28 - The Grand Dedication of the Catawba Park

Six months after the raid at the Duke Mansion, autumn returned in full golden splendor across North Carolina, painting the banks of the Catawba River with brilliant carpets of crimson maples, golden hickory leaves, and blooming mountain asters.
Over five hundred prominent international environmental scientists, appellate court judges, federal prosecutors, and civic leaders gathered beneath open-air white linen pavilions on the newly constructed waterfront park for the grand dedication of the Catawba Sovereign Ecological & Maternal Sanctuary.
Endowed with fifty million dollars from our recovered North Carolina syndicate reserves, the non-profit research park was dedicated to ecological restoration, environmental monitoring, and supporting families recovering from systemic corporate exploitation.

Leo and I stood on the raised cedar podium wearing formal attire.
I wore a custom, floor-length royal-emerald silk velvet evening gown tailored to perfection, crowned by an antique diamond-and-sapphire necklace. Beside me stood Leo Vance in an immaculate bespoke three-piece charcoal tuxedo, his arm wrapped securely and protectively around my waist.
In my arms rested our two-year-old daughter, Eleanor Clara Vance, laughing happily, clutching a small silver rattle as Barnaby, our loyal golden retriever, lay comfortably at our feet.

"There was a time when greed believed that a corrupt syndicate could simply change its name, put on a collegiate suit, and rebuild its poison empire in the shadows," I addressed the cheering assembly. "They believed that power belongs to those who strike with hidden chemicals and forged zoning permits. But an honest community’s courage, backed by sovereign justice, unyielding truth, and the protection of an unbroken family, is an unbreakable fortress that will always balance the ledger."
The entire assembly erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation that echoed across the Catawba River valley as Arthur Vance Senior, Leo, and I cut the ceremonial gold ribbon.
