Chapter 4 - The Reading of the True Lineal Charter

Arthur Vance Senior stepped to the central kitchen island, slamming fifty pages of certified federal chancery court orders onto the polished granite counter.
On the massive eighty-inch smart television mounted above the living room fireplace, the 4K uncompressed security footage from Tuesday afternoon flared to life in brilliant, unforgiving resolution:
Clara clutching her side, collapsing onto the tile. Agnes stepping over her body to fill the kettle. Chloe giggling on the sofa while texting her boyfriend. And the clear, authenticated audio of Agnes saying: "If you're going to lie there, at least don't block the cupboards."
The footage shifted to forty minutes ago:
Agnes screaming that Clara was a parasite. The swing of her arm. The cast-iron skillet flying through the air, smashing into the doorframe right beside my head.
Chloe began to hyperventilate, clutching her stomach, weeping in raw, cornered terror: "Turn it off! Turn that off right now! Leo, please! We’re your mother and sister! You can't let them broadcast our private family arguments!"
Leo didn't even blink.
He continued supporting my body against his chest, his large, warm hand covering mine over my bandage, his jaw set in pure, immovable diamond.
Arthur Vance Senior adjusted his wire-rimmed spectacles, reading aloud the ratified executive decree:
EXECUTIVE RESOLUTION 108 — UNIVERSAL EXPULSION & FORFEITURE:
1. Agnes Vance and Chloe Vance are stripped of all family trust stipends, corporate credit facilities, and residential occupancy licenses with immediate cause.
2. Every single commercial bank account, luxury vehicle, private jewelry vault, and offshore fund held by the conspirators is permanently seized under federal RICO statutes to satisfy fourteen million dollars in restitution debt.
3. Clara Bennett Vance is confirmed as Permanent Sovereign Chairwoman and Sole Fiduciary of the newly consolidated Vance-Bennett Global Maritime Infrastructure Consortium (Valuation: $150,000,000.00).
Special Agent Marcus Cole stepped forward, pulling two pairs of heavy carbon-steel transport handcuffs from his tactical belt.
CLICK. CLACK.
The steel ratchets engaged around Agnes Vance’s wrists behind her back with bone-jarring finality as two federal marshals hauled the trembling mother-in-law to her feet.
A second pair of handcuffs snapped around Chloe’s wrists as she wailed in shrill, ruined hysterics, her knees giving out completely as she was dragged toward the front door.
"Leo! Don't do this!" Agnes screamed, her voice echoing down the manicured street as neighbors parted their curtains to watch. "I gave you life! I am your mother! You cannot send your own mother to federal prison over an ungrateful girl!"
Leo walked to the threshold, looking down at his mother for the last time in his life.

"You gave me life, Agnes," Leo said, his voice smooth, quiet, and razor-sharp as diamond. "And you tried to murder the woman who carries my future. My mother died forty-eight hours ago on this kitchen floor."
The marshals pushed Agnes and Chloe into the back of an armored transport van as the steel doors slammed shut forever.
