Daniel knelt.
“She loved you enough to lose you so you could live.”

Daniel held both girls.
Later, Grace gave Emily Rachel's final unopened letter.
Emily asked Daniel to read it aloud.
Rachel had written about courage.
About family.
About the danger of confusing possession with love.
Her final words were for Daniel.
“If you ever find our daughter, don't teach her to fear the world because of what happened to me. Teach her that truth can hurt, but lies eventually demand a greater price.”
Daniel stopped reading.
Elena squeezed his hand.
