Chapter 10 - The Father I Never KnewI spent the night reading old files.

My father had never been a poor professor.

He had been a financial strategist who had quietly built a network of companies across Silicon Valley.

When he died, everything had been transferred into a trust.

I had been the beneficiary.

But someone had hidden the documents.

Someone close to me.

Arthur admitted he had known part of the truth.

“Why didn't you tell me?”

“Because your father instructed me not to.”

“Until when?”

“Until you were strong enough.”

I laughed bitterly.

“And now?”

“Now someone else knows.”

A notification appeared on my phone.

A message from an unknown number.

YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE HAWTHORNES ALONE.

Then another.

THEY AREN'T THE ENEMY.
