Chapter 9 - The Missing Architect Ethan agreed to meet me beneath an abandoned railway station.

He looked older.

Thinner.

Angrier.

“You disappeared.”

“You buried me.”

“I thought you left.”

“I was forced to.”

“By whom?”

He stared at me.

“Your husband.”

My stomach tightened.

“Daniel?”

“Daniel knew about Vanguard before you think he did.”

Ethan handed me a flash drive.

“He stole something from the company.”

“What?”

“The original acquisition ledger.”

I stared at him.

“Why?”

“Because it proves where the money really came from.”

“And where did it come from?”

Ethan stepped closer.

“Your father.”

My breath stopped.

“My father died broke.”

“No.”

May you like

Ethan shook his head.

“He died protecting you.”
