Part 2 : The billionaire husband kicked Found His Baby Crying on the Floor—But the Secret Hidden Upstairs Was Far More Terrifying
Chapter 1 : HE CAME HOME EARLY AND FOUND HIS BABY ON THE FLOOR—THEN THE NANNY SCREAMED, “DON’T LET HER TAKE HIM!”
“DON’T TOUCH THAT BABY!”
The nanny’s scream echoed through the oceanfront mansion.
But when Adrian Cole stepped through the doorway, he was already staring at the one thing no father should ever see.
His eight-month-old son, Oliver, was lying on the cold marble floor.
Crying.
Beside him knelt Adrian’s fiancée, Vanessa Hart, while the family nanny, Maria, desperately reached for the child.
“What the hell happened?!”
Adrian’s voice shook the room.
Both women froze.
Maria looked up first.
Her face was streaked with tears.
“Mr. Cole—thank God.”
Vanessa immediately stood.
“Adrian, this isn’t what it looks like.”
Adrian rushed past her and lifted Oliver from the floor.
The baby clung to his shirt, still sobbing.
Adrian’s face tightened.
“You have ten seconds to explain.”
Vanessa pointed at Maria.
“She dropped him.”
Maria stared at her in disbelief.
“What?!”
“You heard me.”
“That’s a lie!”
Vanessa stepped closer.
“You’ve been careless for weeks.”
Maria shook her head violently.
“No. Mr. Cole, please listen to me.”
Adrian turned toward her.
Maria’s voice trembled.
“She put him there.”
Silence.
Adrian slowly looked at Vanessa.
Vanessa laughed nervously.
“You’re going to believe the maid over me?”
“I’m his nanny,” Maria said.
“And you’re fired.”
Maria ignored her.
“Ask her why Oliver was screaming before I entered the room.”
Vanessa’s expression changed.
Adrian noticed.
“What does she mean?”
“Nothing.”
“Vanessa.”
“I said nothing!”
Her sudden outburst made Oliver cry harder.
Adrian’s eyes darkened.
“Lower your voice.”
For the first time, Vanessa looked afraid.
Maria crawled closer.
“Mr. Cole, I tried calling you three times.”
“My phone was off during the flight.”
“I know.”
“Why were you calling?”
Maria hesitated.
Then she looked at Vanessa.
“Because this wasn’t the first time.”
Adrian went completely still.
“The first time what?”
Vanessa lunged toward Maria.
“SHUT UP!”
Adrian stepped between them.
“Don’t.”
One word.
Cold.
Final.
Vanessa stopped.
Maria reached into the pocket of her apron.
“I started noticing things two weeks ago.”
“What things?”
“Oliver would cry whenever Ms. Hart entered his nursery.”
Vanessa rolled her eyes.
“He’s a baby!”
“And then bruises started appearing.”
Adrian’s face drained of color.
“Bruises?”
“Tiny ones. On his arms.”
Vanessa shouted, “Babies bruise themselves!”
Maria shook her head.
“Not like these.”
Adrian’s jaw tightened.
He turned toward Vanessa.
“You told me those marks came from his crib.”
“They did!”
Maria whispered:
“No, sir.”
Adrian looked back.
“I saw her grab him yesterday.”
Vanessa suddenly stepped forward.
“You lying little—”
Adrian blocked her again.
His anger exploded.
“ENOUGH!”
The room fell silent.
Even Oliver stopped crying for a moment.
Adrian’s eyes were red now.
Not only from anger.
From the realization that something terrible might have been happening inside his own home while he was traveling for work.
“How long?” he asked.
Maria swallowed.
“I don’t know.”
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“I tried.”
“No, you didn’t.”
“Yes, I did.”
Maria’s answer confused him.
She pulled out her phone.
“Every message I sent you disappeared.”
Adrian frowned.
“That’s impossible.”
“Then check your blocked contacts.”
Adrian took out his phone.
Vanessa’s face went pale.
He opened his settings.
Maria’s number was there.
Blocked.
Adrian slowly raised his eyes.
“I never blocked you.”
“I know.”
Vanessa backed toward the hallway.
Adrian noticed.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m done with this insanity.”
“No.”
He moved toward her.
“You’re staying right here.”
Vanessa’s fear suddenly turned to rage.
“You think you know everything?”
“I know enough.”
“No, Adrian. You know nothing!”
She pointed at Oliver.
“You don’t even know the truth about that child!”
Maria gasped.
“Vanessa, don’t.”
Adrian froze.
“What did you say?”
Vanessa smiled through tears.
For the first time, there was something almost cruel in her expression.
“You really think your wife’s death was the only secret she left behind?”
Adrian stared at her.
His wife, Claire, had died eighteen months earlier after a sudden medical emergency.
Oliver had been born months later through an embryo the couple had preserved before Claire’s death.
At least…
that was what Adrian had always believed.
Maria suddenly grabbed Adrian’s sleeve.
“Don’t listen to her.”
But Vanessa laughed.
“Tell him, Maria.”
“Stop.”
“Tell him why you were really hired.”
Adrian turned toward the nanny.
Maria’s face collapsed.
“What is she talking about?”
Maria said nothing.
“Maria.”
Tears filled her eyes.
“There’s something I should have told you when I came here.”
Adrian stared at her.
“What?”
Maria reached beneath her apron and pulled out a small silver necklace.
Adrian stopped breathing.
He recognized it immediately.
It had belonged to Claire.
He had placed it around his wife’s neck the morning they were married.
“How did you get that?”
Maria closed her fist around it.
“Claire gave it to me.”
“That’s impossible.”
“No.”
Maria looked directly into his eyes.
“She gave it to me three days before she died.”
Adrian’s knees nearly buckled.
“You knew my wife?”
Maria nodded.
Vanessa rushed toward her.
“DON’T SAY ANOTHER WORD!”
Adrian grabbed Vanessa’s arm before she reached Maria.
“Why are you so afraid of what she knows?”
Vanessa struggled.
“Let me go!”
“ANSWER ME!”
Then Maria said quietly:
“Because Claire knew someone was trying to get rid of her.”
Adrian released Vanessa.
The color disappeared from his face.
“What?”
Maria unlocked her phone.
“There’s a video Claire made the night before she died.”
Vanessa stopped struggling.
Adrian looked at her.
And that was when he saw it.
Pure terror.
“Show me,” he whispered.
Maria pressed play.
Claire appeared on the screen.
Alive.
Frightened.
Looking directly into the camera.
Then Adrian heard his dead wife say:
“Adrian, if you’re watching this, something happened to me. And whatever you do… don’t trust the woman who wants to become Oliver’s mother.”
Adrian slowly turned toward Vanessa.
But Maria grabbed his arm.
“There’s more.”
“What more?”
Maria’s voice dropped to a whisper.
“Claire wasn’t talking about Vanessa.”
Adrian stared at her.
“Then who was she talking about?”
Maria looked toward the staircase.
A floorboard creaked upstairs.
Someone was standing in the shadows.
Watching them.
Maria went pale.
May you like
Then she whispered:
“The woman Claire warned you about… has been living in this house the entire time.”
