Chapter 4 - THE RETURN THROUGH THE STORM Eleanor called Julian.

No answer.
Again.
Nothing.
Then his phone went offline.
She called security.
Disconnected.
The mansion’s network vanished.
Something was happening.
Eleanor drove through the storm.
Rain hammered the windshield.
Lightning split the Hudson sky.
At the Sterling estate, the gates were locked.
She abandoned the car.
Climbed through an old service entrance.
Entered through the greenhouse.
The house was dark.
She heard Leo crying upstairs.
Then Julian’s voice.
Weak.
“Maria…”
Eleanor climbed the staircase.
Inside the nursery, Julian was slumped against the wall.
A syringe lay beside him.
Maria stood beside Leo’s crib.
“You,” Maria whispered.
Eleanor stepped forward.
“Touch my son and I swear you’ll regret surviving tonight.”
Maria smiled.
“That’s exactly what your mother said.”
Eleanor froze.
May you like
“My mother?”
And Maria attacked.
