Chapter 15 - ARTHUR STERLING Arthur Sterling had spent sixty-eight years believing money made him untouchable.

He invited Adrienne to his estate.

She went.

Alone.

Arthur poured bourbon.

“You built an impressive company.”

“You stole from it.”

“I redirected inefficient capital.”

“You stole from sick children.”

Arthur smiled.

“Morality is a luxury invented by people who don’t understand power.”

Adrienne looked around his enormous mansion.

Portraits.

Antiques.

Inherited wealth.

“You know what your mistake was?”

Arthur raised an eyebrow.

“You thought because I became rich, I forgot what being poor felt like.”

She stood.

“I remember every hospital bill my mother couldn’t pay.”

Arthur’s smile disappeared.

Adrienne walked toward the door.

“And now every dollar you stole is going back.”
