Chapter 28 - DINNER Thanksgiving brought everyone together.

Grace cooked.

Marcus complained she was overcooking.

Eleanor defended her.

Adrienne burned the pie.

Nobody cared.

They ate outside beneath strings of warm lights.

At one point Adrienne looked around the table.

There were no billionaires.

No employees.

No patients.

No housekeepers.

Just people.

Family.

Grace raised her glass.

“To second chances.”

Eleanor raised hers.

“To knowing who deserves them.”

Marcus lifted his soda.

“To not burning dessert next year.”

Everyone looked at Adrienne.

She laughed.

For once, the house was loud.

And safe.
