Chapter 26 - Noah climbs

At three, Noah decided stairs were fascinating.
Of course.
He had no conscious memory of the fall that he could describe.
He still approached carefully.
One afternoon he put one hand on the rail.
Climbed.
Lily followed immediately behind.
I said:
“Lily.”
She stopped.
“What?”
“Give him space.”
“He could fall.”
“I’m here.”
She hesitated.
Then stepped aside.
Noah climbed four steps.
Sat.
Then descended on his bottom.
Lily laughed.
He shouted:
“Again!”
