Chapter 22 - OWEN VOSS

The lights went out.
Voss descended the stairs wearing the gray jacket. The scar across his thumb shone white around a pistol.
“Your father ruined people and called it business,” he said.
Daniel positioned himself between Voss and Noah. “Then why protect his secrets?”
“I protect the names that paid me.”
Voss demanded the ledger. Noah quietly opened a voice-recording app and slid the phone under a shelf.
Voss admitted he had moved Claire from the lake house after her escape. Elliot ordered him to return her. Vanessa begged him to let Claire go, then surrendered Claire's location when Elliot threatened Lily.
“Who killed Claire?” Daniel asked.
“Ask the camera Hale hid in the boiler room.”
Sirens approached. Ruiz had traced Noah's phone.
Voss fired at the lights and fled through a service tunnel. He left blood on a stone edge but escaped into the woods.
For the first time, police had his voice, his DNA, and his confession.
