Chapter 26 - THE BOARD'S LAST MOVE
While Elliot sat in custody, his allies called an emergency board vote. They intended to remove Daniel, validate Claire's fake proxy, and sell the company before prosecutors froze its assets.
The boardroom filled with lawyers and camera crews. Claire's chair remained empty.
Noah sat beside Daniel wearing the leather bracelet.
One director called the evidence “an emotional family dispute.”
Daniel placed the death certificate on the table. “Then answer one unemotional question. How did a dead woman approve a seventy-million-dollar sale?”
Susan presented the token logs. Ruiz's warrants had linked three directors to Elliot's shell companies.
Then Daniel played Robert's tape.
Silence spread across the room.
Noah stood. His voice was young, but it did not shake.
“You treated my mother like a signature. She was a person. She warned you, and every one of you decided comfort mattered more than truth.”
The takeover failed unanimously. Elliot and his allies were removed. An independent investigation began.
