Chapter 26 - The Letter That evening, Adrian found an envelope beneath the farmhouse door.
No stamp.
No name.
Only one sentence:
Some ghosts don't stay buried.
His old instincts returned.
He opened it.
Inside was a photograph.
The same unknown man from years earlier.
On the back:
You were never the only one watching.
Adrian stared into the darkness outside.
Sarah came beside him.
“What is it?”
He didn't answer immediately.
Then he folded the photograph.
“I don't know.”
“Are we in danger?”
Adrian looked at his daughter sleeping upstairs.
“I don't think so.”
“But?”
He glanced toward the distant road.
“But someone wants me to remember that the past still knows my name.”
Sarah took his hand.
“Then let it remember something else.”
“What?”
“That you chose your family.”
