Harper stared at the evidence.
"He was supposed to be in federal custody."
"He is," Gabriel said.
"Then how?"
Gabriel didn't answer.
Marcus placed a photograph on the desk.
Derek had been communicating with someone from prison.
Someone inside law enforcement.
Someone powerful.
Someone who wanted Gabriel destroyed.
Harper's stomach dropped.
"How many people are involved?"
Gabriel looked toward the dark window.
"Enough to make this dangerous."
She reached for his hand.
"Then we face it together."
Gabriel looked down at their joined hands.
For years, he had believed love was a weakness.
Now he understood something else.
