Chapter 19 - THE DOOR THEY NEVER EXPECTED TO OPENA year later, Harper worked at a community clinic.
Gabriel had begun dismantling the most violent parts of his organization.
Noah was older, happier, and finally sleeping through the night.
Their life wasn't perfect.
But it was real.
Then one evening, an envelope appeared at the mansion.
No return address.
Inside was a photograph.
Gabriel stared at it.
Harper came up behind him.
"What is it?"
He turned the photograph over.
Written on the back were six words:
YOUR FATHER'S DEATH WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT.
Harper looked at Gabriel.
His face had gone completely still.
"Who sent it?"
"I don't know."
"Could it be a threat?"
Gabriel studied the photograph.
"Maybe."
Then he noticed something.
A symbol in the corner.
One he hadn't seen in twenty years.
His father's old organization.
A part of his past he believed had died with him.
