Chapter 14 - The Puzzle One Saturday morning, Olivia sat at the kitchen table working on a puzzle.

Eleanor watched her.
“That piece doesn't go there.”
Olivia looked up.
“Maybe it does.”
Eleanor opened her mouth.
Stallone noticed.
The old instinct was there.
Correct her.
Fix it.
Prove she was wrong.
But Eleanor stopped.
She sat down.
“Maybe it does.”
Olivia smiled.
Five minutes later, the piece was still wrong.
But Olivia was happy.
Stallone looked at Eleanor.
“You almost corrected her.”
“I know.”
“And you stopped.”
“I know.”
“Was that difficult?”
“More than I expected.”
He nodded.
People underestimated how difficult it was to change something that had become automatic.
The hand that once pointed out every mistake had to learn to wait.
The voice that once commanded had to learn to ask.
The woman who had believed softness was weakness had to discover that patience required strength.
Eleanor looked at Olivia.
“Can you help me?”
Olivia looked surprised.
“With what?”
“Finishing the puzzle.”
Olivia smiled.
“Okay.”

And for the first time, Eleanor wasn't teaching.
She was learning.
