Chapter 20 - The True Reign

Autumn arrived in Atlanta, painting the vast grounds of the Corbin estate in brilliant shades of gold and crimson. The air was crisp, and for the first time in my entire life, I woke up every single morning feeling completely safe.

Florence was currently serving a ten-year sentence for attempted murder and extortion. Evelyn had been quietly relocated to a heavily guarded psychiatric facility in the Swiss Alps, entirely cut off from the outside world and her wealth. Douglas and Christopher were rotting in federal prison, their names disgraced and forgotten by the corporate world.

I stood on the massive stone balcony of the master suite, wrapped in a thick cashmere shawl, watching the sun rise over the city we now ruled together.

Garrett stepped out onto the balcony, wrapping his strong arms around my waist from behind and resting his chin on my shoulder. His physical recovery was a complete miracle; he walked without a cane, his body hardened by daily physical therapy and an unbreakable will to protect what was his.

He kissed the side of my neck softly, thanking me for organizing the charity gala we had hosted the night before. Under my leadership, Corbin Industries had redirected millions of dollars into foundations supporting survivors of domestic abuse, turning my past pain into a shield for thousands of other women.

Garrett turned me gently to face him. His intense, loving gaze made my heart flutter just as wildly as it had the day he first stood up from his wheelchair.

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box. He didn't drop to one knee—he knew I needed a partner who stood beside me as an equal, not someone who bowed to me.

He opened the box to reveal a stunning, flawless diamond ring. He looked deeply into my eyes and told me that I had given him his life, his company, and his soul back. He asked me to be his wife, his partner, and the permanent queen of his empire.

Tears of pure joy spilled down my cheeks as I nodded, whispering a breathless yes. He slid the ring onto my finger, the cold metal feeling incredibly right against my skin, and pulled me into a deep, passionate kiss.

Later that year, we were married in a small, fiercely private ceremony in the estate's sprawling gardens, surrounded only by the loyal staff and friends who had stood by us during the war.

As I danced with my powerful, brilliant husband under the stars, I looked back at the long, brutal path that had brought me here. I had entered this house as a broken, terrified caregiver with nothing to lose. I was leaving my past behind forever as the untouchable, beloved wife of Garrett Corbin, holding the keys to an empire that no one would ever take from us again.
