Chapter 26 - LIVIA’S WEDDING

Livia married at thirty-three.
His name was Noah Grant.
Physical therapist.
Calm.
Tall.
Terrible dancer.
No family business.
No Moretti alliance.
No old-world negotiations.
Livia planned the wedding herself with Noah.
Small by Rizzano standards.
One hundred guests.
That apparently counted as intimate in our family.
Then she came to me a week before.
“I want to wear Mom’s comb.”
I swallowed.
“Okay.”
“And I want short hair.”
“What?”
She smiled.
Not shaved.
A deliberate pixie cut.
Her choice.
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
The salon used clippers at the back.
I did not attend.
She sent me a photograph afterward.
Beautiful.
Confident.
Elena’s silver comb secured above one ear.
No fear.
No statement about Bianca.
Just style.
Then Livia said:
“Flower girl is Rosalie’s granddaughter.”
May you like
I laughed.
Of course.
