Chapter 15 - The Threshold of Sixteen

The private Gulfstream jet cut through the clear night sky forty thousand feet above the Atlantic Ocean, heading south toward the Caribbean archipelago.
Inside the luxurious leather interior of the cabin, warm yellow lights illuminated the quiet space.
Noah was fast asleep on a plush folding bed near the front bulkhead, wrapped in a warm fleece blanket, clutching his small wooden boat in his hand. His chest rose and fell in a peaceful, steady rhythm.
In the executive swivel chairs near the window, Ethan sat wearing a dark tactical jacket over his dark shirt. He held a high-resolution satellite map of the Bahamian island, his broad frame casting a long shadow across the aisle.
Elena sat across from him, her posture erect, her expressive brown eyes focused on the screen of her encrypted tablet as she reviewed the island's perimeter security layouts.
Elena: "The island is heavily fortified, Ethan. Private security force, autonomous radar grid, deep-water naval dock. Your father built a fortress."
Ethan set his map down, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees. He looked into Elena’s eyes, his expression a mix of fierce, protective determination and a deep, unspoken warmth.
Ethan: "You didn't have to come with us, Elena. You could have stayed in Boston with Noah."
Elena reached across the small space, resting her hand over his, her fingers locking tightly with his.
Elena: "I told you at Sterling Manor, Ethan... I’m never leaving our family again. Wherever you go, I go."
Ethan pulled her hand up, pressing a soft, warm kiss against her knuckles, his hazel eyes burning with an unshakeable resolve.
Ethan: "We get in, we face my father, and we end this war once and for all."
Marcus stepped out of the flight deck, closing the heavy wooden door behind him.
Marcus: "Boss, ten minutes to drop zone. The island's radar grid just picked up our landing vector."
Ethan stood up, checking the tactical sidearm concealed beneath his dark jacket, before reaching down to ruffle his sleeping son's brown curls one last time.
Ethan looked at Elena, holding out his hand.
Ethan: "Ready?"
May you like
Elena stood beside him, taking his hand, her brown eyes reflecting the bold, clear light of the cabin as the plane began its long descent into the dark tropical night below.
Elena: "Ready."
