Chapter 24 - THE BLUEPRINT The original Bennett House blueprint contained hidden mathematical codes.

I recognized them immediately.

Structural calculations.

Load distributions.

Column dimensions.

Except they weren't only structural calculations.

They were coordinates.

Bank account references.

Dates.

Property numbers.

My father had disguised evidence inside architecture.

Every building he had investigated corresponded to a section of the design.

The final coordinate led to one location.

My condo.

Again.

I almost laughed.

After everything that had happened, the answer had been inside my home all along.

We returned that night.

The city was quiet.

Rain tapped against the windows.

I stood in front of the pantry.

The place where everything had started.

Reyes scanned the wall.

“Nothing.”

I looked at the floor.

Then the ceiling.

Then the original plans.

The hidden chamber had been removed.

But my father had known someone might find it.

So he had built a second secret.

Under the kitchen floor was an old foundation beam.

I tapped it.

Hollow.

We opened it.

Inside was a small metal cylinder.

And inside the cylinder—

a key.

Not to a door.

To a safety deposit box.

The bank was still operating.

The account belonged to Samuel Bennett.

It had never been closed.

Reyes stared at me.

“How?”

I smiled sadly.

“My father planned for someone to survive.”

The next morning, we opened the box.

Inside were three things.

A passport.

A wedding photograph.

And a letter.

The passport belonged to Evelyn.

The photograph showed my father with a woman.

The same woman.

But this time, there was a child standing between them.

A little boy.

Adrian.

The letter began:

Claire, if you are reading this, then Eleanor has finally lost control.

I stopped.

May you like

The next sentence made my blood run cold.

But she is not the only person you should fear.
