Noah couldn't access it until he turned eighteen.
On his eighteenth birthday, Samuel arrived with a black case.
Inside was Henry's final document.
Noah read it.
Then stopped.
There were three choices.
Keep Daniel as trustee.
Choose an independent trustee.
Or remove Carter family control entirely and transfer voting discretion to an independent stewardship council.
Noah stared at the page.
Then he read Henry's private note.
If Noah grows up believing ownership requires control, Margaret will have shaped him even if she never touches the shares.
Daniel looked away.
Noah looked at his father.
“You knew?”
“I knew there was an amendment.”
“You didn't know the contents?”
“No.”
“Did it bother you?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn't you force Samuel to open it?”
Daniel smiled sadly.
“Because your grandfather had the right to protect you from me too.”
Noah's eyes filled.
Henry hadn't merely protected Noah from Margaret.
He had protected Noah from every Carter.
