Chapter 12 - THE BOARDROOM AMBUSH Thomas scheduled an emergency board meeting.
His objective was simple.
Declare Julian incapacitated.
Assume control of Sterling Global.
At 9:03 a.m., the boardroom screens went black.
Then the nursery footage appeared.
Maria hurting Leo.
Maria injuring herself.
Arthur turning his weapon on Julian.
Then bank transfers connected to Thomas.
The boardroom erupted.
Thomas shouted:
“Turn it off!”
The doors opened.
Julian walked inside.
Alive.
Federal investigators followed.
Thomas went pale.
Julian placed Eleanor’s wedding ring on the table.
“My wife warned me.”
Silence filled the room.
“I didn’t listen.”
He looked at Thomas.
“You didn’t destroy my marriage.”
His expression hardened.
“I almost did that myself.”
Thomas backed toward the private elevator.
A screen behind Julian illuminated.
Eleanor appeared remotely.
Thomas stared at her.
She smiled faintly.
“You wanted the Sterling family divided.”
Thomas pressed the elevator button.
Eleanor continued:
“Unfortunately for you, we finally started talking.”
The elevator opened.
