Chapter 26 - THE EMPTY CRIBEleanor stopped breathing.

Marcus had been ambushed.

Leo was gone.

Minutes later, a video arrived.

Leo sat inside an abandoned industrial building.

Elias stood behind him.

“Bring the original ledger.”

Julian did not hesitate.

“We give him everything.”

Eleanor nodded.

No fortune mattered.

No company mattered.

No revenge mattered.

Only Leo.

Then Marcus froze the video.

“Wait.”

He enlarged the image.

Leo had turned one sneaker toward the camera.

Someone had written letters across the sole.

PIER 17.

Eleanor covered her mouth.

Earlier that year, she had taught Leo a simple game: if he was ever lost, show people clues about where he was.

Their little boy had remembered.

Julian stared at the screen.

“He’s helping us.”

May you like

Eleanor wiped away her tears.

“Then we don’t waste what he gave us.”
