Chapter 23 - THREE MINUTES “WE HAVE THREE MINUTES!”

Julian attacked the ventilation panel.
Maria searched for an emergency tunnel.
Eleanor tore through files.
One document stopped her.
A signature.
Her father’s.
The date was impossible.
Eight years after his supposed death.
“Julian!”
He looked.
Eleanor held up the paper.
“My father was alive.”
Gas thickened.
Maria found a maintenance passage.
They escaped seconds before the archive sealed.
Outside, Eleanor unfolded the document beneath a streetlight.
Her hands trembled.
Her mother had survived.
Her father had survived.
Her childhood had been built on two funerals without bodies.
At the bottom of the document was a handwritten sentence:
IF ELEANOR EVER FINDS THIS, SHE IS READY.
Julian stared at her.
May you like
“Ready for what?”
Eleanor had no answer.
