Marcus switched it off.
“They prepared that story before you ever entered the foyer.”
He placed documents on the table.

Security schedules.
Hospital access codes.

All arranged weeks earlier.
“Thomas?”
Eleanor asked.
“Thomas paid for pieces of it.”
“But?”
Marcus hesitated.
“He wasn’t the architect.”
“Then who was?”
Marcus placed an old photograph on the table.
A woman stood beside a younger version of Julian’s father.
Eleanor recognized her instantly.
