Cheap brass clasp.

Ruiz opened the clasp.
Inside was the proxy token.
Noah stared at it.
"She put it on me."
"Because nobody would search a kid," Ruiz said.
The token contained physical authentication records.
Every fraudulent transaction had been authorized by a cloned device.
Claire's original token had never been used.
The entire financial scheme began collapsing.
Elliot was charged with fraud, conspiracy, attempted murder, obstruction, and more.
Vanessa was arrested.
Marcus remained under guard.
For the first time in thirteen months, I thought maybe it was over.
Then Vanessa requested a lawyer.
She had one final thing to say.
"Claire was still alive after Marcus gave her the morphine."
My stomach dropped.
"You're lying."
Vanessa shook her head.
"I have no reason to protect Elliot anymore."
Ruiz stared at her.
"Where is the evidence?"
