Chapter 19 - WHAT NOAH WAS WEARING
The bracelet looked cheap: brown leather, a worn brass clasp, Claire's initials pressed inside.
Ruiz found a wafer-thin authentication chip beneath the lining. Evelyn had never carried the token. The glimpse in her handbag had been a decoy Claire planted thirteen months earlier.
“Mom put this on me,” Noah said.
“Because nobody would search a child,” Daniel answered.
Noah shook his head. “Because she knew I would keep it safe.”
The token unlocked Claire's records. Every fraudulent signature had originated from a backup terminal in Elliot's office. The seventy-million-dollar sale was void.
It also opened a video folder labeled IF I DON'T COME HOME.
Before Daniel could play it, Ruiz's radio crackled. Voss had entered the memory-care facility using a stolen badge.
He searched Evelyn's room and left behind a message written across the mirror:
THE LEDGER FOR THE BOY.

Voss knew Noah had more than the token.
But Noah swore he did not know what.
