Arthur continued.
“Mother has been moving money through the foundation.”
A pause.
“She isn't working alone.”
Daniel whispered:
“Who?”
The recording answered.
“Julian.”
Everyone froze.
Eleanor's younger son.
Daniel's cousin.
Arthur had suspected Julian was helping Eleanor hide the money.
Then Arthur said one final sentence.
“But there's someone above them.”
The recording ended.
Nobody spoke.
Evelyn replayed it.
The final words were still there.
Someone above them.
