Chapter 7 - The Flash Drive Evelyn locked the library door.

Then she turned to me.

“You said you had evidence.”

I removed a silver flash drive.

Daniel stared at it.

“Where did you get that?”

“Your office.”

His face drained of color.

“You went through my desk?”

“No.”

I looked directly at him.

“I went through the wall behind your desk.”

Daniel froze.

Six months earlier, I had discovered a loose panel behind a painting.

Inside was a small compartment.

Someone had hidden financial records there.

Shell companies.

Offshore accounts.

Payments.

Names.

And one repeated transaction.

The Sterling Trust.

Millions of dollars had been moved shortly before Arthur's crash.

But there was another file.

A video.

Daniel watched the screen.

The recording showed the black SUV.

Arthur's car.

And Camille behind the wheel.

Then the image zoomed.

A second figure appeared in the passenger seat.

Daniel.

He covered his mouth.

“I wasn't driving.”

“I know.”

I looked at him.

“But you were there.”
