Chapter 3 - The Woman Nobody Knew Five minutes later, I was sitting in a private library with Evelyn and two security officers outside the door.
Camille had been taken to another room.
Daniel was nowhere in sight.
Evelyn closed the door.
“Start talking.”
I looked at her.
“My name is Serena Blake.”
“I know.”
“I've worked with Harbor House for seven years.”
“I know that too.”
I swallowed.
“What you don't know is why I married Daniel.”
Evelyn's eyes sharpened.
“You're telling me your marriage was connected to this?”
“Yes.”
I reached into my handbag.
Inside was a small envelope.
I placed photographs across the desk.
Arthur Sterling.
Daniel's older brother.
A damaged SUV.
A cliff road.
A photograph of Camille.
And finally, a bank statement showing a transfer of nearly four million dollars.
Evelyn stared at it.
“Where did you get these?”
“I've been investigating for months.”
“Why?”
I looked toward the closed door.
“Because someone tried to make me believe I was crazy.”
