Chapter 28 - The Wedding We Never Had Two years later, Daniel asked me one question.

Not Will you take me back?
Not Do you still love me?
He asked:
“Would you let me take you to dinner?”
I laughed.
“You're asking permission for dinner?”
“I've learned not to assume.”
So I said yes.
Dinner became another dinner.
Then another.
Eventually, we rebuilt something neither of us expected.
Not the old marriage.
Something new.
Something honest.
When Daniel proposed again, he didn't give me an expensive diamond.
He gave me a simple ring.
“I don't want to erase our first marriage,” he said.
“I want to make this one different.”
I looked at him.
May you like
Then I smiled.
“Yes.”
