Chapter 7 - THE TRUST THEY STOLE By sunrise, the entire city knew about the necklace.

But the internet had already chosen its villain.
Me.
Anonymous sources called me a fortune hunter.
A reporter claimed I had infiltrated Harrington House to steal the family fortune.
Vanessa released a statement.
She said I had blackmailed her.
She said she had panicked.
She said the security footage had been misunderstood.
Daniel slammed his phone onto the desk.
“She is trying to control the story.”
Michael looked at me.
“Then we control the evidence.”
He explained the most important part of the trust.
If a trustee concealed a living beneficiary, forged a surrender, or used trust assets against that beneficiary, control automatically reverted to the oldest verified descendant.
That was me.
I signed the emergency reversion.
Victor's access disappeared.
Then something happened.
Three accounts attempted to transfer ninety million dollars overseas.
One belonged to Vanessa.
One paid Silver Pines.
The third belonged to a company that owned an abandoned winery.
Reyes sent officers there.
They found medical supplies.
A wheelchair.
A barred room.
And a cup of tea.
Still warm.
Someone had moved Claire only minutes earlier.
Then Victor appeared by video before the Harrington board.
He accused Daniel of allowing a stranger to steal the company.
He demanded Daniel's removal.
Then the board secretary produced a document.
A death certificate.
May you like
Claire Harrington.
Dated two days earlier.
